Between the 7th to 21st October 2015 The Box Moor Trust will hold an election to appoint 5 local residents as Trustees. There is an election every 5 years to replace any of the 12 Trustee positions that have fallen vacant. This year there are 5 positions available. details of those standing can be found here.
The Box Moor Trust has been caring for land held in trust for the community since 1594. The skills and backgrounds of its Trustees have evolved over time and the breadth of its work has developed with the changing patterns of farming, education, recreation and business management.
Trustees are people who care passionately about Hemel Hempstead and Bovingdon and who recognise the vital contribution that the local landscape makes to the community’s quality of life.
To stand for election a Trustee must be over 18 and live in the Hemel Hempstead or Bovingdon area.
All residents living in the Trusts ‘area of benefit’ have the right to vote in the election. From 7th October a ballot pack will be sent to each address and additional packs can be requested for other voters within the household aged over 18.
Full details can be found at The Boxmoor Trust website: www.boxmoortrust.org.uk
Including myself, 10 people have put themselves forward to stand for election. Of these, the 5 people with the most votes will be offered a role of Trustee.
By the way….the role of Trustee is unpaid and totally voluntary. It provides no financial benefits to the individual and the governance of the Trust ensures any interests there maybe are fully declared so that ‘conflicts of interest’ are avoided.
